The Beginner’s Spanish course is made up of two 10-week courses, one during the Autumn Term, the second during the Spring Term. It is possible for new students to start in January 2026 if they already have some Spanish or are happy to spend a little time catching up with the language learnt during the previous term.
These two ten week courses are for absolute beginners or students who would like to build their confidence by starting again from scratch. We follow the structure of the BBC Talk Spanish Book 1. By the end of the first 10 weeks, you will have learned how to introduce yourself, say a little about who you are, what you do and, just as important, to start understanding what Spanish people say in reply. By the end of the second ten week course, you should be able to find your way around Spanish towns, use public transport, and enjoy Spanish hospitality with and without help from google.
