Sewing for Beginners - UCM - SPRING

This course is designed for you if you are new to sewing and want to build confidence on your sewing machine. Join a friendly group of newbie sewers and learn to make and sew useful sewing projects designed to teach you the building blocks of transferable core sewing skills. Our beginners sewing course will comprise of a series of small sewing projects which will be guided by our experienced sewing tutor, who will give demonstrations, provide guidance and 1:2:1 support, each project has accompanying handouts and insider tips. Equipment you need to bring:

Sewing machines available but you can bring your own.

Fabric scissors and snips,

Hand sewing needles,

Stitch unpicker,

Right angle ruler/quilters square

Dressmaker’s carbon paper and tracing wheel

Basic sewing kit, pins, thread, 30cm ruler, tailors chalk, tape measure

Selection of calico or suitable fabric for samples.

Pack of dressmaking tracing paper.

Extra costs:

Your own fabrics, zips and buttons.
