Meet Your Tutor :- Kathryn Scarlett Kathryn has a wealth of experience in art and design both as a Lecturer with over 25 years’ experience and as a practitioner. Kathryn has taught from GCSE to Degree level and has also tutored a wide range of Adult & Leisure courses

Course content:-
• How to observe and study plants & flowers
• How to use graphite pencils.
• How to mix and apply water colour paint
• How to use water soluble pencils.
• How to create tonal effects using light & shade.
• How to create colour palettes
• How to create abstract pattern by zooming in and looking at the finer detail of plants and flowers
Equipment
The majority of equipment will be supplied but please bring along the following;-
Pencil 2B & 4B
Rubber
Pencil sharpener
Set of paint brushes. These can be purchased from ‘The Works’ in Douglas or online. They are about £3.00 for 10 brushes. Boldmere Round & Flat Gold Taklon Brush Set: Pack of 10
A4 Watercolour Paper pad. A decent make such as Faber Castell, Daler Rowney or WHS own brand. Don’t get the Works own brand as the paper isn’t of a good enough quality. You should be able to get a pad for under £10
Finally if you have your own set of watercolour paints, water soluble colour pencils
